Yes, you read correctly! Firstly, THANK YOU SO MUCH to the very kind soul that renewed my sub, you are a wonderful human and I offer you infinity hugs!
I'm finally on leave, so I can actually spare a few minutes to actually talk to you lot!
So, I've already hit the two overnight and 4 ER visit mark with hospitals. Seriously, I think I'm cursed. The most recent injury occurred whilst wielding a scalpel and an silly steel ruler that deflected the brand-new, very sharp blade straight into my thumb, so deep that it cut into the nail from the fleshy left side. The wretched thing sprayed blood like a hose (although not a drop was spilled on the cards). According to ChanelRossouw
's eyewitness account, I even uttered a cuss word, which is indubitably ominous, because I don't cuss. At all. We laughed, I started getting woozy and so we tried to quell the blood flow, which just wouldn't stop. So off to the local ER we went. The nurse cleaned up the wound and was insistent that it was fine, which annoyed me, because the thing had prompted me to make an incredible goofy phonecall to
, mawkishly explaining how I couldn't make his birthday part on account of arterial blood spraying all over the bathroom.
3 hours later, yes, three, the doc finally saw me and immediately declared "Stitches for you!". I must say, that was actually the most fun stitching I've ever had... The doc was really funny and warned me about the disgusting anaesthetic injection's impending pain. She injected it straight into the wound, which then sprayed more blood while I yipped as only a small trodden-upon chihuahua could. She surprisingly told me that I had a really high pain threshold because I didn't even flinch, so that's a good thing, I suppose!
5 stitches later and I now look forward to an epic scar!
I have to give credit to Chanel... Gawsh i love that woman! She looked after me through the whole thing, stayed completely calm and revelled just a little too much in the stitching process. Then she bought me sweets and forced me to relax. She's wonderful!
Work-wise, I've been promoted to Senior Lecturer, which means MORE ADMIN, MORE WORKING HOURS and a whole R200 pay rise! YEAH! Hahaha... I am honoured though, it really means a lot to me that I'm regarded so highly at the institution!
I've also almost finished the first of two international comic projects and am MASSIVELY looking forward to the second one.
Then, of course, we have the con gauntlet season rapidly approaching! KinCon this weekend, rAge in October and Geek Fest in November! I'm massively excited for all of the opportunities and excitement ahead... I'll be doing two cosplays at rAge this year and I've been hitting the exercise routines hard to get in shape for them - I cycle at least 15kms twice a week, swim +-3km's a week and play squash twice a week. The health benefits have been amazing and I think that it's largely contributed to keeping me sane with the crappy Epilepsy (I'm less prone to seizures on days I've exercised).
I hope you're all doing amazingly and thank you for your patience regarding my complete lack of deviations lately...
By the way, if you haven't watched already, Gravity Falls season 2 is just amazing!(Hence the skin)
